
Biography
Dora Fratric (née Jakovina) studied Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy at the Music Academy in Zagreb, Croatia in the class of the eminent pianist Đuro Tikvica. In 2007, Dora completed her Master of Music studies and continued her education at the Music Academy in Skopje, North Macedonia, in the class of the renowned pedagogue, Prof. Boris Romanov, where she graduated with honors and was awarded Master of Piano.
Dora's search for new musical expression took her to the Zürich University of Arts, where she completed two Further Education courses and was awarded Certificate of Advanced Studies for Music Physiology and Applied Music Education. In 2017, Dora completed her Master of Advanced Studies in the field of Extended Music Education and graduated with the thesis titled "Analysis and comparison of ten beginner piano schools".
Dora has given numerous recitals and concerts in various countries as a soloist, as well as a chamber musician. During her studies, Dora performed and was the recipient of awards at national and international piano and chamber music competitions. She has also performed in master classes held by eminent pianists, such as: Noel Flores, Siavush Gadjiev, Manana Kandelaki, Boris Romanov, Đuro Tikvica etc.
After finishing her piano studies Dora dedicated her career to teaching - working as a piano teacher and accompanist at music schools in Zagreb and Varaždin (Croatia), as well as giving private lessons. Her students perform regularly in concerts and are recipients of multiple awards at various piano and chamber music competitions.
Dora also has a vast experience as a piano accompanist working closely with string, wind, brass and percussion instruments, in addition to her work with singers and choirs. As an accompanist, she is a frequent performer in concerts and competitions, and has made several studio recordings.
Dora continuously endeavors to develop her professional skills to reach a higher standard of piano pedagogy and piano performance.
